Information for the PATRICK LEONBERGER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Fund Established January, 1971 by the Family and friends of Pat Leonberger
In May, 2000 the fund stood at $3205.
The fund has been revitalized this past year, largely through the efforts of Dick Bailey and others.
Approximately $4500 was raised through the 50's Decade Reunion, which includes $3000 that the reunion committee donated at the reunion's conclusion.
In August, 2001 Kevin Thompson of DSU reports that the Pat Leonberger scholarship fund is at $10,775.00.
Criteria
To be eligible, a student must:
a. Be a full-time student in good academic standing at Dickinson State University
b. Be worthy, deserving, and of good moral character
c. Show promise of leadership and academic ability
d. First priority is to a deserving male athlete participating in football, track,
and/or basketball. Second priority is to any deserving male or female athlete.
e. Have a minimum g.p.a. of 2.5
Selection Process
1. The recipients of the Patrick Leonberger Memorial Scholarship Fund shall be recommended by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and shall be approved by the Dickinson State University Scholarship and Awards Committee.
2. The scholarship application deadline will be no later than December 1 with the award being announced by May of any given year.
3. The Foundation Management and Allocation Committee, along with the Executive Director of the Foundation, will annually establish the number and award amount. In a given year, the committee may exercise the option of making no selection.
