A. Sunny starts college

Sunny was excited to meet her new roommates. The four girls would be living together for the entire school year and they would get to know each other very well indeed. Their room consisted of a room approximately 12 X 18 feet with an adjoining bath to be shared with 4 other girls in the room next door. It also included a small closet to hang clothes and store boxes. The room was furnished with two bunk beds, four storage dressers, four student desks with comfortable chairs and a small refrigerator.

Sherry was a junior and had the lower berth of Sunny's bunk bed. She was from Zhejiang Province and was seeking a Degree in Business Administration.

Christi was a sophomore and would have the upper berth of the other bunk bed. She was from Hong Kong and was seeking a degree in Nursing.

Nina, who would be the room leader, was a senior and had the lower berth of Christi's bunk bed. She was from (XXX Province) and was seeking a Law Degree.

At first, Sunny had difficulty in speaking only English with her roommates in this English only speaking dormitory. The older students of course were familiar with this rule and chattered on like it was their native tongue. Everyone was anxious to relate her experiences of the past summer. Nina had spent the past year at the University of Virginia in the US. Christi had been an intern at the (XXX Hospital) in Hong Kong. Sherry had spent most of the summer at her home in Ningbo but had gone to Hangzhou for 15 days to take an intensified course in spoken English.
